The surfaces of the wood are tested on both sides, on the ends as well as the rings of the tree. Teak wood stands quite high on this particular scale. Teak wood floors perform better on the scale than oak wood of most types. Once the wood is dried and treated it tends to get harder.

The younger trees would have to be dried and then treated in order to protect them and make them sturdier.
