Torquay Holiday Cottages
Torquay holiday cottages offer a piece of the celebrity lifestyle. Fantastic views of the ocean abound, with some locations right on the beach. In particular the beaches of Babbacombe and Oddicombe provide stunning panoramic views. Together with neighboring Paignton and Brixham, the Victorians nicknamed the area "the English Riviera" for its mild climate. These days a Torquay holiday includes visiting family cafes and restaurants for supper, open-weather attractions, and a lively nightlife.
Such attractions include the Babbacombe Model Village and the Princess Theatre. The Babbacombe Model Village is a miniature village first designed and opened in 1963 by Tom Dobbins. The Village covers 1.6 ha and contains over 400 models and more than 300 m of model railroad track. The Princess Theatre puts on a variety of shows, including opera, ballet, concerts, and West End musicals.
For fans of the mystery genre, Torquay is the birthplace of Agatha Christie. Visitors can walk in her footsteps and tour the town. There is an area called Agatha Christie Mile where visitors can come and walk and see some of the things that inspired her.
Torquay holiday cottage visitors can rent are designed with comfort in mind. Rooms are decorated in tasteful hues with fine furnishings and quality appliances. This means you can have a luxurious stay at half the price or even less. This is a nice idea when renting the former homes of lords, such as Manor House, built by the 12th century Lord, Hugo Coffin. But just because these are high-end cottages doesn't mean less expensive options are less comfortable. Underfloor heating is a popular amenity in many of the smaller cottages, the perfect thing to set when you go to bed to ward off the morning chill. Some cottages even offer on-site pampering, like massages, manicures, and facials.
If your family includes your pets, call ahead to your cottage to make sure they are welcome. Most of the cottages in the area are dog-friendly. Several of the beaches permit dogs as well. Babbacombe Model Village also allows pets on leads, letting the whole family enjoy the models. There are also dog-friendly pubs and restaurants in the area.
