Do you want to know how to start a dollar store? Begin by remembering you are in business to serve your customers. An important part of that mission is to always provide the products your shoppers want and need. The reward for getting this one thing right will be sales and soon profits as well. Get it wrong and the road to success is difficult if not impossible. Read on as I present some of the most important dollar store merchandise to carry in 4 of your better selling departments.
#1) Greeting Cards
The difference between a well run and properly stocked greeting cards department and one that is poorly managed is unbelievable. Greeting cards require daily straightening, dusting and organization. Carefully select cards for all occasions. Offer a good assortment within each of the main occasions such as anniversary or birthday. Make it easy for shoppers to leisurely spend time looking for just the right greeting card for their upcoming occasion or event. Be sure to place greeting cards next to party goods as each will build sales for the other.
#2) Party Goods
As you learn how to open and operate a dollar store you will uncover the potential profits of the party goods department in your store.
